Frequently Asked Questions
Before you send us a message, check to see if your question may be listed below.
Is this pet still available for adoption?
Our adoptable pets page is updated daily. If an adoption is pending for an animal, you will see a note on that pet's page. Even if an adoption is pending, we will still accept applications in the event that the first one falls through. To see what pets are still up for adoption, click here.
Where may I see the pets for adoption?
All the pets we have for adoption are in foster homes. We do not have a shelter. Appointments must be made to meet a pet, and will only be done once an application is completed. We have the pets at two adoption events per month, so visit our events calendar to attend our next adoption event.
I found a stray pet. Will you take it?
All stray animals must go to municipal animal control. Animals that have been injured will be taken by animal control officers to a local veterinary clinic. Coastal Pet Rescue visits Chatham County's Animal Control at least once a week to pull animals into our program.
I suspect a neighbor of animal cruelty. Will you go get the pet?
We appreciate your concern for animals in need. Please note that Coastal Pet Rescue is not a law enforcement agency. We cannot go onto private property to remove animals. Please call your local animal control or law enforcement office to report animal abuse or neglect. (Savannah/Chatham County Animal Control: (912) 351-6750) If you are in the Savannah/Chatham County area, please call CrimeStoppers at 912-234-2020 to report animal abuse anonymously.
How do I get assistance with feral cats in my neighborhood?
Please visit The Milton Project's website for information on how to control feral cat populations in your neighborhood. There is a form available on the site to report a colony in need.
