Coastal Pet Rescue's History

Coastal Pet Rescue was founded February 5, 2004 by Lisa Scarbrough. Lisa had been rescueing and placing pets all her life with the guidance of her father and started on her own in 2000. She decided to formalize her rescue effort so that she could enlist the assistance of others and do more. Today, Coastal Pet Rescue employs a non-paid executive committee of four that oversee nearly 60 active volunteers.

In July 2005, Coastal Pet Rescue lauched a feral cat trap-neuter-return program, The Milton Project. The program seeks to help neighbors gain control of feral cat colonies and limit reproduction. Feral cats are trapped, taken to the vet for sterilization and rabies, and returned back to their colony.
