Coastal Pet Rescue and the Savannah Chapter American Red Cross Recognize National Pet First Aid
Savannah, GA May 30, 2006
If your pet had an injury, would you know what to do?
Coastal Pet Rescue is partnering with the Savannah Chapter of the American Red Cross to prepare pet owners to render aid to their pets in an emergency as part of National Pet First Aid Awareness Month in April.
“Many people do not know there are simple ways to help their pet until they can get to a veterinarian,” says Lisa Scarbrough, President and Founder of Coastal Pet Rescue. “Last year, we donated manikans and supplies so our local Red Cross chapter could offer the Pet First Aid and CPR course to the public. We just want them to take advantage of the opportunity that is now available.”
A pet first aid and CPR certification class will be offered on Saturday, April 29th from 9 am to 1 pm at the Savannah Chapter of the American Red Cross on Drayton Ave. In recognition of National Pet First Aid Awareness Month, a $10 discount is available to registrants through Coastal Pet Rescue’s website, CoastalPetRescue.org.
“People treat their pets like family, and don’t want to think about the what if’s,” says Dan Kurtz, Red Cross Spokesperson. “Unfortunately, pets, like children, can get sick. What we can teach you could make the difference between your pet living or dying in an emergency situation. Plus the course is a lot of fun to take, so it’s really a win win deal.”

Founded in February 2003, Coastal Pet Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization based in Savannah, Georgia dedicated to saving the lives of homeless, abused and neglected dogs and cats in the Creative Coast Savannah and Lowcountry South Carolina areas.
