Show Your Love for Dogs and Cats this February

Savannah, GA January 28, 2008

It’s a month usually centered around Cupid, but at Coastal Pet Rescue, February is all about the love of pets.

On Saturday, February 2, Coastal Pet Rescue will conduct a new volunteer orientation from 11 am to 2 pm at AASU Solms Hall Room 108. Coastal Pet Rescue’s leadership team will be on hand to explain how the organization works and train you for upcoming events. Persons interested in attending the volunteer orientation need to RSVP to 912-351-4151 or visit http://www.coastalpetrescue.org for more information.

On February 5, Coastal Pet Rescue will celebrate its 5th anniversary of serving pets in our community. While no special event is scheduled for this day, articles of reflection will be posted on the organization’s blog at http://www.SavannahPets.org.

On February 9, The Armstrong Atlantic State University Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery will host its 3rd annual Sweetheart 5K Run at AASU, with 50% of the proceeds to benefit Coastal Pet Rescue. The race starts at 8:30 am. Pre-registration is $10/individual, $15 couple. Registration and information is available online at http://www.aasu.acm.org/sweetheart5k/.

On February 16, the Savannah Red Cross will host another Pet First Aid and CPR class from 9 am to 1 pm at the Savannah Red Cross on Drayton. In just 4 hours you will learn basic first aid and how to perform CPR on your pet. Registration is $35 per person and may be done online at http://www.savannahredcross.org. The course is taught by Coastal Pet Rescue president Lisa Scarbrough.

On February 23, Coastal Pet Rescue will hold its first low-cost microchip clinic of the year. Bring your leashed pets with proof of current rabies vaccination from 11 am to 1 pm to TailsSpin (corner of Duffy and Whitaker). For $10 per pet, your pet will have permanent identification from 24PetWatch.

Founded in February 2003, Coastal Pet Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization based in Savannah, Georgia dedicated to saving the lives of homeless, abused and neglected dogs and cats in the Creative Coast Savannah and Lowcountry South Carolina areas.
