Coastal Pet Rescue wants to share some Feline Love this Valentine’s Day

Open your heart to adopt a feline this Valentine's Day, and Coastal Pet Rescue will cut the adoption fee in half. It takes CPR three to four times as long to get a feline adopted as it does a canine. Right now, the average time a feline stays in the foster care program is 10 months to a year, often requiring us to resort to boarding when foster homes cannot hold the pets that long. The normal fee is $80 and includes FeLV/FIV test, shots, microchip, and spay/neuter. Adoption fees will be reduced to $40 through February 15. Click here to meet our available cats.

We are extending the 1/2 off rates through the end of February. Please help us get some kitties adopted!

CPR Looks to Make Magic with Hairy Pupper at the Lowcountry Living Home and Garden Show

Everyone needs a little magic when it comes to home improvement, and Coastal Pet Rescue hopes visitors to the Lowcountry Living Home and Garden Show next week will help improve the lives of some homeless pets.

Starting Friday, January 21st through Sunday, January 23rd, Coastal Pet Rescue will have a booth at the Lowcountry Living Home and Garden Show at the Savannah Trade Center. Visitors are invited to Dogwarts to meet some of the residents of its foster homes, Snifferin, Kittendor, Ruffntuff and Ravenpaw, with the hopes of making a magical match. For families not ready to adopt, puppy kisses are available for 50 cents, with all proceeds going towards veterinary care for rescued pets.

"Several of us are such Harry Potter fans that we never miss a midnight showing of the newest release," says Lisa Scarbrough, president of Coastal Pet Rescue. "We're hopeful that the booth will be unique enough to draw the attention we need to help our pets."

Coastal Pet Rescue normally raises $1800 during the show, but is hoping to raise $3000 as the organization has already had major medical costs for a recently rescued litter of puppies.

In addition to the show, Coastal Pet Rescue is in the running for a grant through the Pepsi Refresh Project. Daily votes are needed and can be made by visiting http://www.refresheverything.com/coastalpetrescue or by texting 105069 to Pepsi (73774) (standard text messaging rates apply).

Coastal Pet Rescue and Georgetown Veterinary Hospital Kick Off Home 4 the Holidays

It's another year of homeless pets asking Santa to find them new families for the holidays.

This year marks the sixth annual Home 4 the Holidays program for Coastal Pet Rescue, a two-month long quest to find homes for all their rescued pets.

Georgetown Veterinary Hospital will help Coastal Pet Rescue with its H4TH kickoff on Saturday, November 20th from 12 pm to 4 pm. The vet clinic will provide low-cost microchipping, free nail trims, and raffles for prizes. The event will also serve as a grand opening for Georgetown's new boarding facility with tours available throughout the day.

"Georgetown Veterinary Hospital participates in community outreach with Coastal Pet Rescue because they do a phenomenal job of tackling the huge problem of pet overpopulation in our community," says Dr. JoEllen Hassan, owner of Georgetown Veterinary Hospital. "By fostering, neutering and placing stray animals, they are doing everything that they can to limit the suffering of these unwanted animals and to avoid the unnecessary euthanasia of these potential pets."

All proceeds collected during the November 20th event will be donated to Coastal Pet Rescue. Additionally, clumping cat litter, dry cat and kitten food and dry puppy food are also being collected that day. Families may also come out to meet some of Coastal Pet Rescue's adoptable pets.

For more information, contact JoEllen Hassan with Georgetown Veterinary Hospital at 912-927-3900 or Lisa Scarbrough with Coastal Pet Rescue at lisa@coastalpetrescue.org.
